Native Checkout

Native Checkout is a Walmart checkout solution that allows users to complete their purchase on a single-page screen through 3rd party platforms, bypassing a lengthy checkout process. Despite its streamlined approach, NC encountered issues that hindered its performance against our user satisfaction and conversion benchmarks. Our goal was to enhance the interface based on usability studies to address these issues.

Previously, when customers clicked on an ad for a Walmart product, they encountered a multi-step checkout process that required considerable cognitive effort and patience:

  1. View item page

  2. Add to cart

  3. View cart

  4. Continue to checkout

  5. Place order

“The main fear for an online merchant here is that shoppers will change their minds and won’t close the deal. And this fear is reasonable since the average cart abandonment rate for eCommerce is about 69%”

"How might we create a more seamless shopping experience for users arriving from 3rd party platform ads?"

We observed that this lengthy process could be cumbersome, especially for customers who arrive with a specific item in mind. They may not be interested in exploring all of Walmart’s features, additional ads, or the lengthy checkout process. Our goal is to provide users with a more focused, streamlined checkout experience to minimize distractions.

The list was narrowed down to the following essential assets: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.
